In this regard, Léster Cervantes, president of Aprohsur, stated that this situation, in addition to the economic losses for the country, means a danger to the public health of Peruvians since there is no health control.
In that sense, he pointed out that The egg of Bolivian origin is transported by land from Santa Cruz to Juliaca, in a journey that lasts up to seven days, under unhealthy conditions, with a high probability of arriving in a state of decomposition and carrying respiratory diseases that affect the birds.
For his part, Pedro José de Zavala, director of Aprohperú, pointed out that it is difficult to identify the smuggled egg and called on the authorities to take the corresponding actions.
It is very difficult to identify the smuggled egg. Although there are some differences with the national one, such as the color of the Bolivian cardboard or the same stamps that Peruvian companies place on the egg, once they are together in the store or market both are contaminated, increasing the risk of salmonella. There have even been cases of bird flu.
Meanwhile, José Luis Neyra, president of Aprohnor, pointed out that the bird population in Peru has fallen, and smuggling means unfair competition that further affects the national industry.
