Ecuador registered 5,077 new COVID-19 infections and accumulated 766,398 positives during the pandemic, reported the Ministry of Public Health.
The registry of deaths rose to 34,730 after adding 14 since the last registry, which are divided between the 24,750 confirmed and the 9,980 probable.
Pichincha accumulates the largest number of infections with 268,061 positives, 2,152 more than Friday’s report, followed by Guayas, with 125,957 (590 additional).
The provinces of Manabí (51,681), El Oro (45,710), Azuay (35,977), Loja (28,463), Imbabura (25,432), Tungurahua (23,776), Los Ríos (16,840), Cotopaxi (16,784) and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas (15,747).
Regarding the situation in the cantons or municipalities, the report specifies that Quito is the most affected by 247,749 infections during the pandemic (1,943 more than on Friday), followed by Guayaquil with 93,162 (481 additional).
According to the official Covid19 Vacunometer website, more than 87% of the population in Ecuador has received a single dose, more than 82.8% a second and about 3 million inhabitants have received an additional booster.
With these data, 1.3 million people are partially vaccinated in the country that has a target population, that is, over 5 years of just over 16 million.
