Santo Domingo.- The population of Puerto Plata has a percentage of overweight and obesity 74.5%, the country’s average being 71%; 25.9% suffer from arterial hypertension, slightly less than the general population, which is 32%; while hyperglycemia (high sugar) is shown at 11.3%, one point less than the rest of the country, according to data from a study carried out to measure the rates.
The data were released this Friday by the Minister of HealthDaniel Rivera, during an activity in that city with the program “La ruta de la salud”.
The head of Health asked the inhabitants of that province to have a better order in their diet, something very important for health.
“We don’t want sick people, they must get vaccinated, lose weight, have routine checkups, eat healthier, that’s why today we are here celebrating the well-being of life and being in better health,” Rivera said.

Likewise, Rivera reported that oral vaccination against cholera began in the border areas of the country, since this population is located in vulnerable and risky places due to the proximity and movement with Haiti, for which reason he urged resorting to inoculation to prevent the spread of the disease.
