The Trial Court 1 of Guárico, San Juan de los Morros extension, decreed a sentence consisting of 30 years in prison for seven people found guilty of the crime of drug trafficking.
According to sources in the justice system, these people are identified as Ricardo Manuel Benaventa, José Manuel Bandres Mosqueda, Manuel Enrique Tovar Perozo, Jackson Aníbal Toro, Kleiber Rafael Bencono Diaz, Yunior José Fragoza Bencomo and Miguel Ángel Herrera.
These people were detained on August 29, 2024 at a Citizen Service Point located in Macaira, José Tadeo Monagas municipality (Altagracia de Orituco), Guárico. They were traveling in three Toyota vehicles. From that checkpoint, they were taken to the headquarters of the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command (Conas), located in the aforementioned municipality.
Among the investigations carried out to support the accusation of the Public Ministry, is the removal of the cell phones that these people were carrying. By virtue of this, the Prosecutor’s Office requested to prosecute them for illicit trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances, obstruction of the administration of justice, criminal association and concealment.
The trial against the seven defendants ended on September 30, the date on which they were found guilty of the aforementioned crimes and sentenced to the maximum penalty.
Anti-drug operations
In another incident, a police-military commission seized five panels of marijuana, which totaled 5 kilos and 55 grams.
The report of the event was aired on the social networks of the National Anti-Drug Command of the Bolivarian National Guard, where it is specified that the operation was carried out in the El Pozo sector, Bermúdez municipality (Carúpano), Sucre, where the troops were patrolling on the occasion of the Cumanagoto 200 operation.
The stash was transported in a bag by a woman who was detained.
And at the Citizen Service Point in Ureña (Táchira), the military seized four panels of marijuana that they were transporting hidden inside a Let television. The shipment weighed 2 kilos 240 grams, according to a report from the National Anti-Drug Command, which added that the bearer of the television was detained.
Another anti-drug procedure took place in the Las Veritas sector, Barquisimeto (Lara), where they detained a person who was transporting five wrappers of an illicit substance, the report says.
The panelas weighed in their entirety two kilos and 64 grams. In addition, the subject had 33 drug pens, weighing 491 grams for a total weight of 2 kilos and 555 kilos that this person had hidden in his personal belongings. The procedures were notified to the Public Ministry.
