7-2: Jenni Hermoso conquers Mexico

Charlie Corralwith three goals, and the ex Barcelona Jennifer Beautifulwith two, were confirmed this Saturday as the two best scorers in the Clausura of women’s football in Mexico by leading the rout of Pachuca (7-2) over Tijuana.

In the continuation of the eleventh day of the championship, the Tuzas consolidated their fourth place, with Corral’s three goals that put her in the lead of the scorers with 13 goals, one more than Hermoso. Jillian Jennings and Lizbeth Ángeles also scored, and Paola Villamizar and Renaé Cuéllar discounted for Tijuana.

In the first half, the Tuzas imposed conditions in their stadium and in minute 9 they reflected it on the scoreboard with a left-footed goal from Corral, who accepted a service from goalkeeper Esthefany Barreras and, after a cut in the area, made the 1-0. The play for the second goal was almost the same: at minute 12 Barreras made a long clearance, Corral took advantage of the poor mark, feinted in front of the goalkeeper and, again with his left foot, increased the lead.

Jenni Hermoso launched a free kick at 19, the ball bounced, which Jennings took advantage of with a touch to make it 3-0. However, in minute 19, the visitors took advantage of the disorder in the Pachuca defense and cut back with a right-footed goal from Villamizar. Jenni scored her eleventh goal of the championship in minute 37, off a pass from Panama’s Marta Cox, to extend the lead to 4-1.

The second part was just as local domain. In minute 54 Charlyn scored her third goal of the afternoon and although in minute 67 Tijuana discounted with a penalty converted by Cuéllar, in minute 70 Hermoso scored with her left foot from a pass from Mónica Ocampo. Pachuca closed the score with a header from Ängeles, in minute 86, to reach eight wins, three losses and 24 points.

Another ex azulgrana, Pereira, won on Friday

Day 11 of the Clausura began this Friday when América defeated Guadalajara 2-0 in the championship derby. Sabrina Enciso and the Catalan Andrea Pereira, in the launch of a penalty, gave victory to the Eagles, who took second place from Guadalajara. Now they occupy it with eight wins, two draws, one loss and 26 points, two less than the leader Monterrey, who this Saturday will face Tigres UANL, in the northern derby.
