With a prolific career dedicated to defending opera and its connection with other artistic expressions, the National Lyric Theater will celebrate its 60th anniversary on September 11. To celebrate, the company plans an extensive program of activities in which a special gala with the Orchestra of the Alicia Alonso Grand Theater of Havana stands out.
The appointment will take place in the Avellaneda room of the National Theater and will feature the talent of the great choreographer Alberto Méndez and the general direction of the master Yhovani Duarte to illustrate the common trajectory carried out by both cultural institutions, which are celebrating their 60th anniversary.
The Fernando Alonso National Ballet School and the Spanish Ballet of Cuba will participate in the show. Anthological and representative works of the repertoire of the lyrical group will be presented.
For the occasion, a tribute will be paid to the 90th anniversary of the world premiere of the zarzuela Cecilia Valdes (1932), by Gonzalo Roig, a classic of Cuban identity.
