A 6.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded this Friday in Mexico at 7:58 a.m. local time, according to the National Seismological Service (SSN).
The earthquake had its epicenter off the coast of the southern state of Guerrero, in the Pacific, but its effects reached different cities, including the Mexican capital, although no material damage or human losses have yet been reported, it states. EFE.

According to the SSN, the earthquake was considered “severe” and it warned that monitoring is being maintained in the areas where it was perceived.
For her part, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, noted during her morning press conference that she spoke with the governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado, “and they are summoning the Civil Protection Council and so far it seems that there is no serious damage.”
The president specified that, in the case of Mexico City, in a first overflight carried out by helicopters as a protocol “it is reported that there is no damage either.”
Meanwhile, the governor of Veracruz, Rocío Nahle, reported through her social networks that the earthquake was felt strongly in several areas of Veracruz and that the state Civil Protection is evaluating the territory.
While the state Civil Protection coordination specified that the earthquake was felt in the regions of Tres Valles, Córdoba, Los Tuxtlas, Xalapa, Orizaba, Huatusco and Coatzacoalcos.
“At the moment there are no reports of any damage to strategic infrastructure and the task forces continue to carry out verification tours in a coordinated manner,” he said, quoted by the Spanish agency.
