Santo Domingo.-Until yesterday noon, 59.8% of the vehicles qualified to renew their label or Vehicle Circulation Tax 2022-2023 had purchased this tax.

According to the statistics of the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII), a total of 1,684,837 working vehicles, some 756,259 owners already have their updated tags for a collection of RD$1,263,645,000.

Of that amount, 92,703 have purchased via the internet, 639,121 via web service and 24,435 at DGII points. For this period of tag renewal there are 1,684,837 working vehicles.

The process, which began in October of this year, only needs one month and three days for people to renew their tag and once this period has passed, the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) will charge surcharges to those who do not do so weather.

The sanction established by the DGII for not renewing within the established period is 2,000 pesos, but they will have to pay 2,100 pesos to vehicles without renewing the 2021-2022 tag, of those, 2,000 pesos as a sanction for non-renewal plus 100 pesos for concept of administrative cessation) and 3,100 pesos to vehicles without renewing the 2020-2021 tag and previous years.

The General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) has recalled that the renewal of the tag online will be done until January 15. After that date, renewals must be made over the counter at authorized institutions prior to January 31.

In this period the values ​​of the Vehicle Circulation Tax remain unchanged in relation to the previous period: RD$1,500.00 for vehicles manufactured up to the year 2017. and about RD$3,000.00 for vehicles manufactured from the year 2018, inclusive, onwards.

Last October, the DGII reported that 33 financial entities and cooperatives with 689 branches distributed throughout the national geography are available for renewal, as well as in the DGII collection offices in Villa Vásquez, Montecristi province, and in Sánchez, Samaná province.
