Santo Domingo.- Dominican immigration authorities arrested 56 illegal Haitians during operations in the provinces of Barahona and La Romana.
A report from the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) He points out that 33 Haitian nationals were arrested in Barahona because they did not have documentation.
Meanwhile, in La Romana, 23 illegal Haitians were arrested, according to the report, which highlights that the operations were carried out “respecting at all times the rights of the detainees.”
“As a result of joint efforts with the police, 56 foreigners were arrested in the last 48 hours in Barahona and La Romana, because they lacked the required documentation to prove their stay in the country,” the report says.

This action is part of the strategies implemented by the authorities to address irregular migration and strengthen border control, he said.
Those arrested will be prosecuted according to law and subsequently repatriated to their country of origin.
