$519,000 million are invested in eleven airports

The National Government, through the Civil Aeronautics throughout 2022, has advanced works in the air terminals in order to modernize and expand them, after the brake caused by the arrival of covid-19.

(Read: Inflation of the poorest households already reaches 12.7%).

Among them, 11 stand out for their importance and improved connection. These works have an investment that amounts to more than $519,125 million and they promise to be finished before the end of the year.

By investment range, in the first place, the El Dorado Airport in Bogotá is located, where money for more than $67,532 million is being disbursed for the completion of the Lima taxiwayconstruction of the box culvert (overpass) and complementary works.

The project began on February 5, 2020 and taxiway L (35,000 m2) is currently under construction, connecting the north runway with the south runway, in excavations of the depression and tunnelliner for wastewater management (20,000 M2), among others. This project is expected to be completed by December 15th.

In second place is the Guillermo Leon Valencia Airport in Popayan, which has a budget of $58,958 million for the construction of the terminal and the platform. The project began on February 8, 2019 and although it was agreed that it would be delivered by August 31, the Civil Aeronautics assured that it is already in the process of delivery and completion of the works, for which it should be in operation soon.

It is noteworthy that in the intervention, the contractor had differences in the studies and designs prepared in another previous contract, for which reason adjustments had to be made to the foundation. Likewise, the Aeronautics assured that module A is finished, and modules B and C in final finishing works and pending the demolition of the old terminal.

At number three is the El Embrujo Airport in Providencia which has two contracts, which, added together, are in the order of $74,851 million. The first of them has an investment of $58,742 million for technical assistance and administration of resources to the Aeronautics, to develop the new terminal, platform and related infrastructure of the Airport, which should be delivered by the month of December.

The second work is they are investing $16,109 million to develop the construction of the control tower and related works of the airport. Currently, the work is in the pre-contractual stage, selecting the contractor and auditor. The work is expected to be completed by December 15.

On the other hand, in the northwest of the country, in the Reyes Murillo Airport in Nuquí, Resources for $57,444 million are being disbursed for the expansion of the runway, adaptation of security strips and maintenance on the ground and air side. Despite the fact that this work has an upcoming delivery date (December 15, 2022), progress is barely 29% as of July.

Another work that presents delays in its execution is one developed in the German Olano Airport in Puerto Carreño, which although it signed the start of the project on February 4, 2022, had eight months planned to carry out studies, designs, rehabilitation of the airside infrastructure and maintenance of the airside and landside of the airport. However, with a completion date of November 23, 2022, only 5.4% of what was contracted as of July has advanced.

The next work to deliver will be the Santiago Pérez Quiroz Airport in Arauca on September 15, despite the fact that the initial delivery date was August 31, since the runway and taxiway rehabilitation works, platform expansion and taxiway construction have already been completed.
