50 technicians prepared to evaluate exports to Haiti

“We can proudly say that the specific objectives of this training have been achieved. The modernization and revitalization of the Ministry’s inspection and control activities is essential to guarantee the protection of the health of the population,” said Paulemont.

Likewise, he stressed that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is responsible for ensuring that food produced or imported in Haiti are free of any sanitary and phytosanitary riskin accordance with the decree of March 11, 2020 on the Regulation and Control of the Production and Trade of Food Products.

During the workshop, inspectors received training on various topics, including legal frameworks related to commercial inspection, product quality, the requirements of the ISO-1720 standard, as well as operational and ethical aspects of inspections. “These measures reinforce the Ministry’s commitment to the protection of the Haitian consumer,” the entity highlighted.

The Minister of Commerce has been in office for less than three months

The Minister of Trade and Industry, James Monazard, took office in July in the ministry’s conference room, where he met with the heads of each department, as well as deputy directors.
