During this year some infectious diseases of the respiratory system have rebounded, especially at this time of year, according to data from the General Directorate of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health (Ssa).
The Epidemiological Bulletin reports that in the case of acute respiratory infections, up to epidemiological week 49, 14 million 794 thousand 298 cases were reported, compared to 9 million 753 thousand 319 in 2021; In the case of covid-19, up to week 50, 3 million 71 thousand 830 were registered, a figure higher than the 2 million 395 thousand 505 of last year.
Only pneumonia and bronchopneumonia have so far shown a decrease. At week 49, 103,114 cases were recorded and in 2021 there were 121,262.
In this cold season there is an increase in 88.6 percent
in the weekly incidence of acute respiratory infections per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to the same period of the previous year, according to data from the National Epidemiological Surveillance System of that general directorate .
The latest report issued in this regard states that In epidemiological week 49, 395 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants were reported nationwide

In that period there was an increase in cases of 6.4 percent compared to week 46 and the male-female incidence rate ratio was 1.2. In addition, 55 percent occurred in the female sex

Covid-19 has also been on the rise in recent weeks. At the beginning of December there were more than 12,000 cases, a week later (December 13) almost 20,000, another seven days later (20 of the month) 25,445 and on the 27th 31,909 were reported in a week.
A few days ago, the Ministry of Health reported that, although in previous years, due to the covid-19 pandemic and the measures taken to avoid contagion, cases of seasonal influenza declined throughout the world and in Mexico, now the situation is different.
In the current season, the AH3N2 and AH1N1 viruses predominate. Vaccination against seasonal influenza has advanced 71 percent in the country in the groups targeted by the campaign (older adults, children under five years of age, pregnant women, people with comorbidities and health personnel).
Likewise, the dependency reports that in the winter season other respiratory infections caused by other respiratory viruses are also registered.
1,468 cases have been confirmed: 56 percent due to syncytial virus, 15 percent due to enterov/rhinovirus, 12 percent due to metapneumovirus, 7 percent due to parainfluenza, and 6 percent adenovirus, among others.
