Five people were arrested for their alleged responsibility in transporting 113 panelas of marijuana seized in Falcón, according to military sources.
The detainees are: Víctor Miguel Marcano, Douglas Rafael Mendoza González, Carlos José Castillo Lugo, Pedro Martínez Paul and Manuel Alberto Medina Colmenares.
These people came in an unnamed boat that ran aground in Mata Gorda, Pueblo Nuevo (Falcón), according to a report from the joint procedure carried out by Polifalcón, the Bolivarian National Guard and the Bolivarian National Police.
Observing the police-military commission, the five occupants of the peñero fled to the Las Cumaraguas sector, where they were captured.
The 113 panelas of marijuana were located in three portions that were scattered on the eastern coast of the Paraguaná peninsula.
First they located 56 panelas that yielded 35 kilos 135 grams. Then 34 panelas with a total weight of 39 kilos 628 grams. And finally 23 wrappers (23 kilos 902 grams). In total, so far they have recovered from that boat 113 panelas that add up to 98 kilos 665 grams, according to reports.
The retained vessel came from the Colombian Guajira and was heading to the Caribbean islands, according to initial investigations. The Prosecutor’s Office opened a file that includes the inquiry into the connections of the group of detainees.
