The contracts of the fourth generation pathways of concessions, known as 4G, began to be awarded in 2014, however, after four years they barely had a 16% progress.

For the first month of 2022, the average execution progress of the projects that make up the Fourth Generation of Road Concessions in the country is 63.26%this represents a variation of 47.17 percentage points (pp) compared to August 2018. In terms of investment, as of January 31, 2022, the economy has been injected, in Capex, about $32.37 billion, this it is 65.07% of the total disbursements for 4G.
In 2021, the Government put into operation cfour runners of 4G tracks. These are Vías del Nus, Pacífico dos, Puerta de Hierro, Palmar de Valera- Carreto and Cruz del Viso and also Cartagena-Barranquilla/Circunvalar de la Prosperidad.
In total, they have entered the service of the Colombians five 4G road projectstelling that in 2020 the Girardot-Honda Puerto -Salgar corridor was put into operation.
Recently, the National Government opened the service of 57 kilometers of trackcorresponding to Functional Unit 8.3, between San Onofre (Sucre) and Cruz del Viso (Bolívar), of the Antioquia-Bolívar project, a 495 km corridor, which seeks to connect the interior with the Caribbean.

The works in this corridor, which has investments of $1.5 billion, included road improvements that included Road widening works to 11.3 m widerecovery of bank instabilities, correction of horizontal and vertical curves, reinforcement of the pavement structure, as well as the intervention of three bridges: Retiro stream bridge (new), Matuya stream bridge (repowered) and Corrales stream bridge (extended ).
And it is that the investments have not only benefited the economy, the five routes that are already firm have improved mobility by up to two hours for Colombians.
An example is the Vias del Nus, 157km runner which had investments of $1.2 billion, travel times were reduced for users who now travel through northeast Antioquia. According to the ANI, the journey between Pradera and Alto de Dolores was shortened by two hours, improving the connection between Antioquia with Magdalena Medio and the Caribbean ports.
“This project has an infrastructure mega-work, the Bankruptcy Tunnel, made up of 4.2 km tubes, and which resulted in investments of $683,607 million, since its route generates a reduction of 45 minutes in travel times between the Antioquia districts from Santiago and El Limon”, indicated Manuel Gutierrez, president of the ANI.

The Vías del Nus project generated 5,564 direct jobs and during its construction stage, but also had an investment in construction of $1.2 billion. It is estimated about $2.3 billion more for the operation and maintenance stage that is beginning.
Likewise, once they come into operation the Highway projects Mar 1 and Mar 2together with the three Pacific 1, 2 and 3, the journey between the Coffee Region and Urabá Antioquia will be reduced to just 12 hours, benefiting not only the transport of goods, in less time, but also the users of the via, as they will connect faster with Medellín and Urabá Antioquia.
This year, the Government expects to deliver more works. The next one will be the Transversal del Sisga, which “is a two-way single road initiative with a total length of 137 km that directly benefits 12 municipalities in the departments of Cundinamarca and Boyacá,” said Gutierrez.
This project has a approximate investment of $1.5 billion pesos and currently registers an advance of 94.87%. Since the beginning of its construction to date, it has generated more than 5,800 jobs.

The Transversal del Sisga is considered one of the main alternatives to communicate the center of the country with the Eastern Plains, which benefits the livestock and agricultural sector of the region. This year the Government expects to deliver 15 more works.
