He Emergency Operations Center (EOC) reported this Thursday that, in the last 24 hours, during the second phase of the operational “Awareness for Life, Christmas and New Year 2025-2026”they registered 48 traffic accidents on highways, roads, streets and avenues of the country, with a balance of eight deaths.
Three of the deaths occurred within the road safety device and five outside of it.
Four of the deaths were in motorcyclesthree in light vehicles and one for run over. Besides, 61 people were affected by traffic accidents.
Poisoning
121 people were treated for alcohol poisoningof which 20 were minors aged between 11 and 17 years. They also registered 19 cases of food poisoning.
The provinces with the highest incidence were National District, La Altagracia, Santo Domingo Province, San Pedro de Macorís, Puerto Plata and Santiago.
Medical and road assistance
They offered 10,998 public attendancesof which 9,979 were road assistance and 1,019 medical assistance.
He National Health Service (SNS) attended to 621 peoplewhile the Directorate of Attention to Out-of-hospital Emergencies (DAEH) provided assistance to 321 people and the Civil defense at 51.
Inspections and withholdings
The General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (Digesett) performed 10,003 audits for various violations of the Law 63-17.

Among the most common: 3,332 motorcyclists sanctioned for do not wear a helmet; 1,121 drivers circulating no license or expired license; 756 infractions for run the red light; 738 vehicles circulating without insurance or with expired policy; 394 drivers without seat belt and 370 vehicles circulating without lights.
Were 1,065 motorcycles, 160 light vehicles and 241 heavy vehicles were detained.
