Gerardo Mérida Sánchez, Secretary of Public Security of the State of Sinaloa, reported that, between September 9 and October 19 of this year, local authorities have a record of 19 deaths related to clashes between criminal groups.
Furthermore, in said period of time, he indicated that operations have been carried out that have allowed the opening of 93 investigation files and the arrest of 46 people.
Regarding the seizure of weapons, he explained that the State Attorney General’s Office secured a total of 164 long weapons and 265 short weapons, in addition to 1,709 magazines and almost 96 thousand cartridges of various calibers. Also seized were 895 shell casings, 55 grenades and improvised explosives, which were located during the operations.
“And there are 153 insured vehicles, of which 35 are armored, between factory and artisanal armor; 4 are official vehicles of the Secretariat of National Defense; Likewise, eight cloned motorcycles from the state police, a cloned patrol from the municipal police, a cloned patrol from the investigative police of the State Attorney General’s Office, and an ambulance,” Mérida Sánchez highlighted.
The official assured that this has been possible thanks to the different work carried out by the security forces of the three levels of government, whose functions include reducing or limiting the actions of criminal groups.
However, he called on society to actively participate in reporting suspicious activities in their communities.
Theft from premises
Rubén Rocha Moya, governor of the entity, announced the implementation of a security operation that seeks to deter violence and prevent crimes.
In a press conference yesterday, Monday, the local president indicated that, after robberies and criminal acts in businesses last Friday, he held a meeting with affected businessmen and at that time he designed the strategy.
According to his statement, this operation will have the participation of the National Guard, whose elements will be uniformed with social proximity clothing and who will patrol the neighborhoods and central areas on foot. This, with the aim of identifying points of possible violence and acting preventively, rather than reactively.
“What we want is not only to act like this, without reagents, well, that is, since the crime occurs, but fundamentally to prevent it and with the presence of the Army Guard, the operation that we designed there is to deter, prevent crime “, commented Rocha Moya.
