The annual survey carried out by Tiendanube showed that last year 47% of Argentine entrepreneurs created their online store, to have an alternative source of income to their usual employment.

“One of the most relevant conclusions is the importance of the entrepreneurial sector in job creation: 44% of Argentine online businesses employ two or more people, while 26% plan to hire more collaborators for their team during this year,” the annual report said.

Of the entrepreneurs who employ between two and five people, 90% are located in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, and in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Santa Fe.

When working specifically on the universe of entrepreneurs, they detected that “more than 61% manufacture part or all of the products they sell,” according to the person in charge of the platform in Argentina, Franco Radavero.

While 37.72% of those surveyed affirm that they buy their products from suppliers.

According to data from Ebank, electronic commerce in Argentina grew 40% last year, reaching a “market value of US$17.1 billion”, for which the country was positioned among the five markets with the greatest growth potential. growth together with Brazil, Mexico, India and Russia.

“E-commerce is expected to grow 31% per year until 2025,” said Radavero, noting that only on this platform in the first quarter of this year “invoicing grew by 77% year-on-year and total sales registered an increase 18% compared to the same period in 2021”.

According to the Tiendanube report, 58% of entrepreneurs sell their products and services only through the online channel; 27% increased their sales in 2021 compared to 2020, and 20% maintained the volume of transactions from the previous year.

Regarding obstacles, according to the annual report, 33% of those surveyed said that time is the main obstacle in the way of developing their own project; money came in second place, with 26% of the vote.

The access, availability and management of technology in third place with 25% of positive responses and the emotional factor 12%.

Only 12% of the entrepreneurs stated that they do not experience any difficulties when dealing with the construction and management of the online store.

“In Tiendanube we have a clear horizon: to reduce the barriers to entrepreneurship, promoting the advancement of the economy with a view to generating employment and the development of SMEs,” said Radavero.

Each of the online stores requires the integration of different technological solutions, whether for logistics, payment methods, billing, shipment tracking, etc.

Specialists assure that the evolution of online stores is linked to omnichannel and the use of technologies such as augmented reality.
