Governor of Delta Amacuro, Loa Tamaronis, ordered to reinforce road safety operations in the face of the increase in road accidents
Four people have lost their lives in traffic accidents that occurred during the last week in Tucupita, Delta Amacuro state. The victims included three adults and a child, while other people were seriously injured.
One of the most unfortunate events occurred when a five-year-old boy died and his grandfather was injured after being hit by a motorcycle on the Tucupita national highway. Both were parked on another motorcycle on the side of the road.
In another accident, a couple lost their lives after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned.
During the Christmas days, motorcycle accidents have predominated, with at least five cases recorded in the capital of Delta.
Given this situation, Governor Loa Tamaronis ordered this weekend to reinforce road safety operations, with emphasis on the detection of drunk drivers and the control of loose animals – such as cows and horses – on the Tucupita national highway.
