The Valley Independent Ecuadorian thrashed this Tuesday by 4-1 Sports Tachira of Venezuela and qualified for the semifinals of the South American Cupwhere he will face the winner of the tie between Internacional from Brazil and Melgar from Peru.
With goals from Argentina’s Lautaro Díaz and Lorenzo Faravelli, as well as from Jhoanner Chávez and Junior Sornoza, Independiente finished the tie with a 5-1 aggregate result for the goal converted into a 0-1 win in Venezuela, while Rober Hernández cut differences for Deportivo Táchira.
The soccer superiority of the Valle team was reflected in both games, so the qualification for the semifinals of the 2019 South American Cup champion leaves it in an expectant situation with a view to the next phase against Internacional or against Melgar.
The Venezuelan team came out to press with order in attack, filtering the ball through the spaces left by the local in its defensive system, in search of its fast attackers, a strategy that lasted until the 32nd minute, when the Ecuadorian team began to structure the rout
Before Independiente started their steamroller, Táchira had taken the lead in the 27th minute with a swift attack after a center from the right flank by Mauricio Cova, which Hernández finished off at the other end with a precise volley impact .
Independiente waited until the 32nd minute to equalize, as a frontal pass from Luis Segovia was taken advantage of by Gaibor with a powerful shot that was rejected with difficulty by goalkeeper Cristipher Varela, and Chávez arrived opportunely to take advantage of the action and score with a soft touch to the left stick.
In the penultimate play of the first half, Marco Angulo crashed the ball into the crossbar and in the following action, Panamanian defender Azmahar Ariano committed a penalty to Angulo. The referee admonished the Panamanian and Sornoza converted the penalty into a goal already in added time of the first half to go into the break with an advantage on the scoreboard.
