38 political organizations will be able to present candidatures

Elections 2026: JNE announces that parties can now register their candidates

He Plenary session of the National Elections Jury (JNE) proclaimed the official results of the primary elections ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

Of the 39 political organizations that participated in the process, 38 managed to exceed the established participation threshold, enabling them to present their formulas and lists of candidates to the Special Electoral Juries (JEE).

The electoral body confirmed that the only party that failed to pass the threshold was Acción Popular. According to the entity, the court previously decided to declare its primary elections null and void. The annulment was due to the identification of “substantial defects” that, according to the JNE, violate the principles of internal democracy and due process.

The resolutions with the results, corresponding to the elections held on November 30 and December 7, were published on the JNE institutional portal and sent by the National Office of Electoral Processes (Onpe).

The 38 eligible political groups must submit the application for registration of their candidates to the competent JEE no later than 11:59:59 p.m. on December 23.

“For those who opt for the virtual modality, applications can be sent until 12:00 p.m. on December 24 through the Declara + system of the JNE, as long as the legal representative has started the registration of the information until midnight on December 23 at the latest and remains uninterrupted in the system until the sending process is completed,” the entity said.
