This was confirmed by the Paraguayan consul in Posadas, Rolando Goiburu, who explained that some 30 Paraguayan vehicles were seized because they were transporting contraband fuel from Posadas to Encarnacion.
“An exhaustive control began during the week, referring to the issues of transformation of vehicles for the crossing of fuels purchased in the city of Posadas. Caught the attention of the Argentine Customs authorities the continuous passage of vehicles from four to nine times a day”, explained the diplomat in dialogue with 1020 AM.

In this regard, he said that to the detriment of a long line of Paraguayan and Argentine citizens returning from vacations and long lines, occur in Paraguayan side in the city of Encarnación.
“Calling the attention of the crossings of these vehiclesthey took note of the references (plates) and began to delay them, reaching a quantity of 25 to 30”, he indicated.
In this sense, he said that they will be reviewed because apparently they suffered from modifications to transport the fuel, this situation generated chaos because they could cause serious accidents.
Besides, aroused a discomfort of the Paraguayans who are thinking of holding a demonstration at the head of the San Roque González Bridge.
“These vehicles remain in the integrated border control zone and today the expert controls begin to determine with mechanics from the Argentine Customs and in the presence of the Paraguayan Consulate for the purposes of real verification of the situation in which they find themselves,” he said.

The consul mentioned that it was even doneor habit the modification of vehicles with double tank putting the lives of third parties at risk with the number of liters that cross before the chance of causing a serious accident.
“It has happened about uncomfortable situations and for today they told me that they were preparing a new protest on the Encarnación side,” he mentioned.
Finally, Goiburu added that the Vehicle owners could pay a large sum as a fine and they would be facing judicial processes.
