
The Human Rights Directorate of the opposition political party Vente Venezuela denounced this Friday a new repressive escalation by the government of Nicolás Maduro, which in recent days has left at least 30 citizens arbitrarily detained and has caused multiple illegal raids in the states of Lara, Anzoátegui, Guárico, Vargas and Sucre.

Among those affected are “members of political organizations, social leaders and relatives of leaders, who are subjected to Forced Disappearance.”
The Directorate of Human Rights of Vente Venezuela warned that many of these operations were carried out “violently and without a court order,” and that the responsible officials stole personal belongings, including vehicles and cell phones.
In this sense, they denounced the arrest of the brothers and university students José and Omario Castellanos, along with their mother, Blanca de Loaiza. After officials from the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) raided their home in Lara state, and took them into custody.
That same day, the NGO Justice, Encounter and Forgiveness (JEP) He joined the complaints and asked for “freedom and justice” in Venezuela, coinciding with the canonization of José Gregorio Hernández and mother Carmen Rendiles, who will become the first saints of the country.
This religious event scheduled for this Sunday has been seen by non-governmental organizations, activists, opposition sectors and the Catholic Church as an opportunity to renew the call for the release of political prisoners.
According to figures from the NGO Penal ForumIn Venezuela there are 845 people imprisoned for political reasons. The Executive and the Prosecutor’s Office, however, deny this accusation and assure that the detainees face charges for common crimes.
