A 3-year-old girl almost died in El Tigre, Anzoátegui state, after consuming at least a quarter of a liter of whiskey that caused alcohol poisoning, reported Radio Fe y Alegría in its website.
The event It happened in a house located in the Casco Viejo sector of El Tigre.
The minor, who was under the care of her aunt, a 15-year-old pregnant teenager, took the bottle due to family carelessness and ingested the liquor, which caused a “momentary alteration of consciousness.”
Relatives of the girl, realizing the situation, took her to the Roque Dalton Comprehensive Diagnostic Center, located in the Campo Oficina sector. She was then transferred to El Tigre General Hospital, where she underwent gastric lavage.
The main counselor of the Council for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (Cpnna) of El Tigre, Kleiber Martínez, indicated that he moved to the house where the girl lives and found that it is a home with family dysfunction.
Authorities imposed a protection measure to take care of the integrity of the girl, who is confined in the health center under medical supervision.
