He lawyer and businessman, Jaime Senior, considered This Tuesday it has been a disappointment that President Luis Abinader and the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) have not fulfilled their campaign promise to include the three grounds for the decriminalization of abortion in the Penal Code.
“It was part of the platform of the current government that the three causes were going to be included in the Criminal Code and I personally feel that it has been a disappointment that they have not fulfilled that campaign promise,” he said.
In a personal capacity, he also President of the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE)explained that if the possibility of including the three grounds for voluntary termination of pregnancy was really being discussed, abortion would have been completely excluded from the Penal Code.
Interviewed by the newspaper Hoy Digital, Senior emphasized that if there was a real will to approve the decriminalization of the voluntary interruption of pregnancy, abortion would be known together with the three causes in the same law.

Discussion of the three causes
It is recalled that the amendment to the Criminal Code is still being heard in the National Congress, and currently the discussion has been stranded in the reconciliation of articles 110 and 187 of the piece that deal with abortion and discrimination respectively. It is expected that from next February 27 the discussions about the piece will continue.
However, different groups and organizations of the Civil Society have spoken out against this point being separated from the original piece to be introduced in a special law.
