3-2: Brazil, champion of the South American Under-17

The selection of Brazil was awarded for the thirteenth time the South American U-17 Championship by winning Argentina by 3-2, and thanks to the tie to a goal between Ecuador and Venezuelawhich left the Ecuadorian team on the verge of winning the title for the first time.

La Canarinha finished the final hexagonal in first position with 13 points and will go to the next U-17 World Cup together with the teams of Ecuador, Argentina and Venezuela, who finished in second, third and fourth position, respectively, while Paraguay and Chile stayed out of the World Cup in fifth and sixth place.

On the fifth and final day of the hexagonal, the Brazilian team beat Argentina in a vibrant round-trip match in which both teams played openly. Argentina entered the game cold and that was used by Brazil to score two goals before half an hour into the game, through Riquelme and ‘Dudu’.

Shortly before halftime, Argentina closed the gap with a goal from Juan Giménez and at the beginning of the second half Claudio ‘Diablito’ Echeverri managed to equalize for the moment, because after a few minutes Da Mata headed in the third goal for Brazil that gave the three points to the Canarinha and, ultimately, also the title.
