Boca Juniors defeated this Friday night by 3-2 to the University of Chile to win Group A International Summer Tournamentwhich is played at the UNO Jorge Luis Hirschi stadium in La Plata.
After coming back from the score twice, the Argentine team sealed the second victory of the preseason in as many appearances after last Monday’s victory against Colo Colo.
Cristian Medina, Exequiel Zeballos and Luis Vázquez converted the winner’s goals, while Cristian Palacios and Ronnie Fernádez scored for the Chileans, who finished with ten players after Camilo Moya was sent off in the 48th minute.
In this way, Boca obtained a passport to the championship final to defend the title achieved last year by winning Group A and will wait for the winner of Zone B, which already registered the initial victory of San Lorenzo 1-0 against Independiente and then a 3-1 for ‘Rojo’ against Talleres de Córdoba. The definition of this Group B will be this Saturday with the match between San Lorenzo and Talleres de Córdoba.
The final will be played on January 25 in La Plata
The historic Summer Tournament was staged in the coastal city of Mar del Plata, however, the northern province of San Juan was considered, although this idea did not prosper and they finally decided that all the matches would be held in La Plata. The winners of both groups will meet on January 25 for the final of the summer tournament.
The Argentine tournament will begin on February 11 after postponing its start for a week due to the wave of coronavirus infections, while the Chilean championship has scheduled its first matches for the 4th of the same month.
