29% of the houses in the city have mosquito larvae

Santa Cruz de la Sierra has a larval infestation rate of 29%which means that 29 out of every 100 dwellings havein mosquito larvae Aedes aegyptitransmitter of dengue, zika and chikungunya, according to the results of the entomological survey, released yesterday, Monday.

It is urgent that we do aa campaign to destroy breeding sites to avoid un rebound in dengue cases, starting with the districts with the highest rates of larval infestation,” said the Municipal Secretary of Health, Roberto Vargas.

The municipal authority anticipated that a campaign to eliminate breeding sites will be coordinated and will be launched in the nextdays and asked the population for their support, cleaning hiss canchones and patios at least once a week because that is the time the vector needs to reproduce.

Regarding vaccination in Santa Cruz, the health authorities reported that coverage reaches 65% of the population. target population. In the groups older than 18 years, 74% has first doses and 64% second doses; while, in those under 18 years of age, 43% started their scheme and 57% have the complete vaccination schedule.

The authorities indicated that they continue to deploy brigades to educational establishments to reinforce immunization in the student population. In this week it plans to reach 53 schools.
In the first week of classes, two positive cases of covid-19 were registered in schools.
