For various crimes, 285 people have been convicted so far this year, according to information provided by the Attorney General of the Nation, who revealed that these convictions have been achieved through the Second Section of Crimes against Patrimony of the Prosecutor’s Office Metropolitan.
Specifically, convictions have been given for specific crimes such as robbery and illegal possession of firearms.
The prosecution detailed that in the crimes of simple robbery and aggravated robbery, they sentenced 158 people, being the months of June 23, July 28 and August 22; in which more convictions were given, followed by March 20, May 20, January 19, February 13, April 13. All these people are serving sentences between 5 and 21 years in prison.
While in the crime of illegal possession of a firearm, 127 people have been convicted. In the month of January, 15 people were sentenced, February 22, March 22, April 12, May 20, June 13, July 12 and August 11, with sentences of 4 to 9 years in prison.
The Superior Prosecutor, Uris Vargas, in charge of this Section, made a call to those who operate outside the Law, that crime does not pay, and that in the Public Ministry we are committed to fighting crime and bringing to justice all people who fail to comply with the Law and who are a threat to society, this with the collaboration of our auxiliary arms, the State security forces.
