A total of 24 people died this morning in the state of Zacatecas, after the passenger bus in which they were traveling was involved in a traffic accident that later led to the unit collapsing.
State authorities reported that the truck belongs to the Ómnibus company and was heading from Tepic, Nayarit, to Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. Likewise, they detailed that five people were injured, who receive medical attention at Clinic number 1 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
The accident occurred on Highway 45 Aguascalientes-Zacatecas, when a double-trailer tractor that was transporting corn suffered the detachment of the second box, which impacted the bus. The driver of the latter rolled onto his right side.
Civil Protection and National Guard teams took charge of the rescue efforts, as well as the maneuvers to clear the road. However, vehicular traffic was interrupted in both directions until the corresponding actions were completed.
Condolences and attention to victims
The governor of Zacatecas, David Monreal Ávila, regretted the vehicle accident and confirmed the death of 24 people and 5 more injuries.
“From the first moment the mishap occurred, I gave instructions to address this unfortunate event. All security and emergency corporations mobilized to the place where the accident occurred,” he indicated through his social networks.
He stressed that attention will be given to all the victims of this accident.
