Monterrey, NL. The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García Sepúlveda announced that three new MM-25 trains were launched, with a total of 22 new cars, which are integrated into the operation of the Metorrey line 1. The objective is to continue modernizing and expanding the capacity of public transport in the metropolitan area.
García Sepúlveda, held a tour aboard one of the new trains accompanied by state, municipal and legislative authorities.
The new trains are equipped with cutting -edge technology, such as video surveillance cameras, wifi connection and air conditioning. Each of the trains has the capacity to transport between 900 and 1,000 passengers, which will allow thousands of users to move more efficiently and safely.
“There are 22 trains, more than cars, very complete, new trains, with the Internet, with weather, the new design and there are seven in the city. For August they must be around 22 for line 1 of the subway,” he said.
The arrival of the new trains for Metrorrey, are part of the modernization package that began since last year, to improve the public transport service.
This renewal of the Metorrey collective transport system is key to international stature events, such as the 2026 World Cup, since the Expo station will serve as a connection point for visitors.
“This is very important because just the exhibition station is the closest to the stadium, for those who come to the World Cup. We are very happy,” said the governor.
The day began at the Talleres station, located in the San Bernabé neighborhood, where the state president boarded one of the modern MM-25 trains accompanied by Hernán Manuel Villarreal Rodríguez, secretary of mobility and urban planning; Abraham Vargas Molina, general director of Metorrey and Héctor García García, mayor of Guadalupe; as well as local deputies.
From there, the convoy moved to the San Bernabé station, in the Santa Lucía neighborhood, where the operation of the new trains by the general director of Metrorrey was explained.
Subsequently, the delegation addressed the train again to go to the Mitras station, in the Central neighborhood, a strategic point for its connection with the transmetro system. There the tour concluded.
1,500 urban transport trucks will arrive
On the other hand, Samuel García said that this Friday 1,500 new urban transport trucks will arrive, which will be added to accelerated works on lines 4 and 6 of the Metro, for this summer.
“Nuevo León will notice this summer new trains and new trucks. A great advance in lines 4 and 6. Twice as many people is arriving, twice as much machinery,” he emphasized.
