The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) approved this Thursday (3) new authorizations to send federal military personnel to provide security at polling places in the first round of municipal elections, which will be held on Sunday (6).
Unanimously, the ministers approved a package of 11 processes for sending soldiers from the Armed Forces to the municipalities of Marechal Deodoro (AL), Chã Preta (AL), Campo Alegre (AL), Teotônio Vilela (AL), Estrela de Alagoas (AL), Roteiro (AL), Marimbondo (AL), São Gonçalo do Amarante (RN) and three other locations that were not disclosed because the processes are under judicial secrecy.
Last month, the TSE also approved 53 processes to guarantee the security of voting in municipalities in the states of Tocantins, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso do Sul, Amazonas, Ceará, Maranhão, Acre, Mato Grosso, Pará, Paraíba and Rio Great North.
The sending of federal troops occurs when a municipality informs the Electoral Court that it does not have the capacity to guarantee the normality of the election with local police personnel.
