A national survey carried out by Nexus Research and Data Intelligence, from FSB Holding, shows that the number of candidates elected last Sunday (5) linked to the health, military and religious areas increased in relation to previous municipal elections, while those linked to education fell.
The research identified the area of candidates elected for mayor or councilor through terms used alongside the name available on the ballot, such as corporal, police officer, brother, pastor, doctor, and professor.
According to the survey, 1,098 health professionals were elected as councilors and mayors in the country. The number is a record in the last 24 years and represents an increase of 32% compared to 2020, when 826 were victorious. In the period from 2000 to 2024, growth was 627%, equivalent to around seven times.
Those elected with names on the ballot box with terms related to education totaled 1,622. The result represents a drop of 1.4% compared to 2020, when 1,645 were elected. In the period from 2000 to 2024, growth was 250%, that is, more than triple.
The survey also shows that 469 candidates with religious identities in the ballot box were elected. The number represents an increase of 6% compared to 2020, when 442 were elected. In the period from 2000 to 2024, the growth was 63%. In these 24 years, the record number of religious victors in municipal elections was in 2016, with 485 elected.
Candidates elected with military ranks totaled 152. The number is a record for the last 24 years and represents an increase of 13% compared to 2020, when 134 were elected. In the period from 2000 to 2024, the growth was 36%.
