This Sunday morning (27) was peaceful and there were few incidents of electoral crimes during the second round of the 2024 municipal elections. More than 23 thousand members of the public security and judiciary system work in the 51 Brazilian municipalities where voting takes place.
According to the director general of the Federal Police, Andrey Rodrigues, by the end of this morning, 11 people were taken for investigation, two were arrested red-handed and a vehicle was seized and no money has yet been seized. “The details are still being determined. It is a judicial police procedure that is taking place right now”, he added.
The operation focusing on electoral crimes is coordinated by the National Secretariat of Public Security of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, from the Integrated Control and Command Center, in Brasília.
The integrated work includes the participation of the Federal and Federal Highway Police, state public security forces, as well as men from the Brazilian Army, who operate in the cities of Manaus, in Amazonas, Fortaleza and Caucaia, in Ceará. The contingency troops that operate on the streets are made up of 2,856 soldiers.
Road safety is the responsibility of 377 federal highway police officers. More than 3,500 vehicles, four vessels and six aircraft were also mobilized, operating throughout Brazilian territory.
