Regarding the risks that the opposition does not agree on the method of selecting the presidential candidate and, in the end, splits arise, the PRI national leader Alejandro Moreno said that, even without having a “crystal ball” , there will be unit candidacy.
“We are working. We are building the type of forums, the type of proposals. The Go for Mexico coalition is solid, it is firm. We are moving forward, we are going to build. What I can tell you is that we are going to arrive solid with a candidacy where we all go, where we go to that electoral process to contrast ideas, proposals and projects and we are going to win the presidency of the Republic”, he pointed out.
– Is there a risk of a rupture in the opposition towards 2024 due to the candidacy?
-We are working hard, every day we work on it to stay united, together always thinking of Mexico.
– Will there be a unit candidate?
-I’m almost certain. I don’t have a crystal ball, but I am certain that the PRI, PRD and many civil society actors will work to have a solid candidacy.
In her turn, Guadalupe Acosta, former national leader of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), considered that the fact that the citizens elect the candidates is an important advance that does not diminish the strength of the political parties.
“On the contrary, it strengthens the parties and that is why it seems very important to us and that is where we are going,” he stressed.
