This 2023 began with changes in government agencies, since the Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) came into force, which will replace the National Emergency Office (Onemi).
Not only is it a name change, but the new estate seeks to prevent natural disasters by working with local communities, ranging from municipalities to provinces and regions.

Difference with Onemi
The deputy national director of the former Onemi, Mauricio Tapia Dupyu indicated by means of an audiovisual record the differences in the estates.
“The National Emergency Office will cease to exist, which will be replaced by Senapred, which seeks territorial decentralization and therefore work with the regions, provinces and communes, in this line is the commitment of our country with the management disaster risk,” he said.
Likewise, he indicated that “we are no longer an office, as Onemi was, and we are transformed into a much more robust public service that acquires all the growth and advances of the old National Emergency Office, but promotes greater emphasis on tasks such as prevention, planning, organization and supervision”.
