The National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) presented the labor market report for December 2022 and the total for the year, for which the entity reported that the proportion of unemployed workers in the country was 11.3% for all of 2022.

“For the entire year, the global participation rate reached 63.6%, the employment rate 56.5% and the unemployment rate 11.2%. If we review the previous years, the last two were atypical as they were marked by the pandemic, but they are levels very similar to those of 2019”explained the director of Dane, Piedad Urdinola
Likewise, the director of Dane indicated that, in the last month of last year the unemployment rate was 10.3%, below the figure of 11.1% that it registered in the last month of 2021, which implies a reduction of 1.2 percentage points.
For the month of December 2022, 22.4 million workers or employed persons were registered in the country, an increase of 973,000 people in relation to the figure for December 2021 (21.49 million).
Regarding the unemployed, In the country, 2.5 million people were in search of employment.111,000 less than in the same month of 2021. On the other hand, the population outside the labor force totaled 14.2 million people, 319,000 less than in December 2021.

In addition, Urdinola highlighted that men maintained an unemployment rate in single digits in Decemberat 8.3%, versus a rate of 12.9% in the case of women.
