2 bodies of fishermen rescued in Miches

Rescatan 2 cadáveres de pescadores en Miches

Savannah of the Sea.-Civil Defense volunteers in Miches, El Seibo province, recovered this Friday morning the lifeless bodies of two eel fishermen, who died after being swept away by the current of the Jovero River in that town.

According to the information, only one of the victims was identified as Keuri Manuel Benitez, while the other person, a young man of approximately 23 years old, lacked identification documents. The bodies were delivered to INACIF for the corresponding purposes.

The bodies were found at the mouth of the tributary, in Playa Arriba.

Members of the Fire Department, the Dominican Navy and some relatives of those rescued also participated in the search and rescue efforts.

Likewise, the Dominican Civil Defense rescued alive this Friday two fishermen who were stranded since yesterday afternoon due to the flooding of the Yabón River in this municipality, a fact that prevented them from reaching dry land.

The news was confirmed by the management of the institution in Hato Mayor through a report indicating that both men were “rescued, safe and sound.”

Members of the Central Directorate of Tourism Police (POLITUR), the Dominican Navy and firefighters also participated at the scene.
