A total of 2.8 tons of marijuana seized in Zulia were incinerated, the National Anti-Drug Superintendency (Sunad) reported through its Instagram account.
The report says that the procedure was carried out by Sunad in conjunction with the Territorial Defensive System.
“Members of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and the Public Ministry participated in the event, in compliance with the citizen security policies contemplated in the Great Quadrants of Peace Mission,” the published report states.
During the last two weeks of February, police and military security agencies have practiced various anti-drug procedures in Zulia. One of them took place on the beaches of Caimare Chico, Guincua sector, Bolivarian indigenous municipality of Guajira, Zulia’s border with Colombia.
In the aforementioned area, officials unearthed 107 bales containing 5,729 panels “of plant remains of the Cannabis sativa plant, commonly known as marijuana,” says the report released by the Ministry of the Interior, Justice and Peace.
The cache had a gross weight of 2,864 kilos and 5 grams.
Another procedure was carried out in the Castillete sector, Almirante Padilla municipality (El Toro), where officials detected 11 bales floating adrift in the waters of the Caribbean Sea, containing 262 panels of marijuana, which yielded a total weight of 285 kilos 930 grams, according to a report published on the Instagram account of the National Anti-Drug Command of the Bolivarian National Guard.
