2-1: General Caballero advances to the group stage

The Knight General advanced to the group stage of the South American Cupin his first foray into a continental tournament, beating 2-1 Sun of America at the Defensores del Chaco stadium in Asunción, in the second leg match between Paraguayan teams. In this way, General Caballero ratified what was done in the first leg when he thrashed Sol de América 3-0 at home.

In yesterday’s match, Tuesday, the score soon fell off the level. At 6 minutes, Argentine midfielder Juan Heinze scored the goal for the team led by Gustavo Bobadilla. However, Sol de América reacted quickly and tied the match through striker Nildo Viera, who converted a penalty into a goal in the 9th minute.

It should be noted that in the group stage, to which General Caballero agreed, the six teams from Argentina and the six from Brazil will be included, as well as the four clubs eliminated in the third phase of the Copa Libertadores. The winners of each zone will qualify for the round of 16 of the championship.

The draw for the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana will take place on March 25 in Luque (Paraguay) together with the draw for the same instance of the Copa Libertadores.
