Valverde. -The Army of the Dominican Republic detained 18 Haitians in irregular immigration status, during operations carried out in the municipality of Mao, in Valverde.
In a press release, the military corps reported that patrols made up of officers and enlisted men from the institution captured a group of nationals from the neighboring country in the Pueblo Nuevo sector of the aforementioned district, where they intercepted a Hyundai brand car, Sonata model, White color, license plate A668125, whose driver fled upon noticing the military presence, leaving said vehicle abandoned and inside the number of 14 Haitians with status irregular migratory.
Likewise, he pointed out that during the development of another operation on the Monción highway section towards El Rubio, in San José de las Matas, members of the S-2 and uniformed members of the military body, arrested four Haitians without documentation who were traveling on two black CG 200 Tucano motorcycles.
He indicated that the vehicles were taken to the 4th infantry brigade located in Mao, Valverde, while the undocumented people were handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for the corresponding process.
The Army also reported that by order of the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, and the general commander of said entity, Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, they will continue with operations to confront illegal migration and illicit trafficking and smuggling of merchandise throughout the national territory.
