Of the deaths, 12 were involved with a motorcycle in the tragedy; 226 people were intoxicated by alcohol; including 11 minors
A total of 18 had died as of noon today as reported yesterday by the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the second bulletin of the first phase of the Christmas Operation “Awareness for Life 2022-2023”.
Retired Major General Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the COE, when reading the report, also revealed that there had been 77 traffic accidents during the operation on the main highways, highways, streets, and avenues.
The 18 deceased in these accidents registered that 57 involved motorcycles, 6 light vehicles, 4 run overs, 4 heavy vehicles and 6 unspecified vehicles.
Méndez clarified that of the total deaths, only 9 occurred within the road safety device.
The human losses this Christmas were represented by: Wilkin Cuevas Mella, Eriberto Caba, Antonio Valdéz Ruíz, Sony David, Orquidia Milagros Jeréz, Anderson Hernández de La Cruz, Elías Colomé, José Luis Díaz and Reneury Minaya Mercedes.
Luis Alberto Paulino, Víctor Méndez Méndez, Ramón Ferreras de los Santos, Antonio Hernández, María del Carmen Beltré, Junes Jules, Wilfredo Fernández García, José Mejía Rosario and Bryan Salvador also joined the dismal list.

The provinces that have reported the most cases are: the National District, La Vega, Puerto Plata and Dajabón.

The bulletin showed that in the case of the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (DIGESETT), it carried out 10,147 inspections for different violations of Law 63-17, among which 2,062 motorcyclists stand out for traveling without a helmet, At the same time, 127 light vehicles, 1,182 motorcycles, were retained. When mentioning heavy vehicles, 225 were caught traveling without permission and 823 road assistances were carried out.
Regarding the National Health Service (SNS), it provided 1,213 health care and in the case of the Military and Police Commission, 1,957 road assistance was provided.
