President Luis Abinader yesterday led the second graduation of 1,784 young people benefited by the “Oportunidad 14-24” program, who completed the training cycle in technical-professional careers in different areas.
Of all of them, 756 minors returned to resume their studies in education centers to complete their schooling, driven by the comprehensive care received in the “Oportunidad 1-24” program and more than 24 institutions that are directly involved in the training of The beneficiaries of the program and another 472 completed their internship programs, of which 89 remain active with permanent jobs and another 87 opted for entrepreneurship. The rest hope to enter the labor market.
During the graduation ceremony, President Luis Abinader called on young people to make an effort and prepare more each day, after emphasizing that they are the force that drives the country; the most numerous and growing segment of the population on which the economy rests, and the one that is considered to need more space to fully develop its capacities.
Reinsertion and inclusion
For the reasons stated above, the president stated that for this reason “Opportunidad 14-24” is one of the “star” programs that the Government has, with very specific objectives to bring the projects and ideas of young people closer to the reality of work. and business of the country with the implementation of active policies of promotion, defense of the rights and reintegration into the productive and educational activities of vulnerable adolescents and young people. “The success of this program is guaranteed. According to the coordinator of the Social Policy Cabinet and creator of the 14-24 Opportunity initiative, the graduates completed training cycles in the areas of waiter, tourism, massage, acrylic nails, pharmacy assistant, sales, basic gastronomy, multimedia , computer science and technical support, secretarial, Accounting, Commercial Cashier, electricity and hairdresser for gentlemen.
In 2022, the Social Policy Cabinet graduated 371 young people also in various areas.
Delivered active birth certificates
In the activity, dozens of birth certificates were also delivered to young beneficiaries of the program who did not have the document and who can now fully enjoy all their rights as citizens. The 1,784 young people who graduated yesterday at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center were trained in technology centers in 34 sectors in different parts of the country, but especially in Greater Santo Domingo.
