17-year-olds must register in the military registry from now on

All the 17-year-old Peruvian citizens must register in the military registration mandatory from now on, according to supreme decree No. 018-2025-DE.

The document specifies that all young people born in the national territory will have to register on the list of the Armed Forces before turning 18 years old.

The state investment in favor of retirees is estimated at about 311 million soles.

Failure to comply with this will generate a fine of 5% of the current Tax Tax Unit (UIT); that is, 275 soles according to the value in soles established by the State.

However, said economic sanction will be annulled (it will be exempt from payment) if the offending citizen completes his quartered military service within the legal deadlines.

In addition, those who are not registered at the time of the call and want to comply with voluntary quartering are exempt from paying the registration certificate.

Benefits of doing military service:

Graduates will be able to access technical guidance training in the field of land and water transportation, coordinated between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Transportation.

However, it is noted that these trainings – or courses – are indicative in nature, so they do not constitute any official certification or technical title.
