The Israeli bombings in Lebanon may have claimed a new Brazilian victim. Relatives of a 16-year-old teenager denounced her death in press interviews.
After fleeing the area under attack, she reportedly returned to the region where she lives to look for school supplies and clothes. According to an uncle, the young woman’s father also died at the scene.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet confirmed the deaths. Although Beirut airport is open for commercial flights, the Brazilian government is studying the demand for assistance to remove Brazilians from Lebanon.
On Wednesday (25), a 15-year-old teenager died after a series of bombings by Israeli troops. Ali Kamal Abdallah was shot in the Beqaa Valley, 30 kilometers from Beirut.
The teenager’s father is Paraguayan and also died in the explosions. The Brazilian embassy in Lebanon provides assistance to the family.
Repudiation
In a press conference after the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), in New York, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva condemned the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
“It is the highest number of deaths since the civil war that lasted between 1975 and 1990. It is also important to remember that 94 women and 50 children died, 2,058 people were injured and 10,000 people were forced to retreat and empty their homes,” said Lula.

On Monday (23), the Brazilian government condemned “in the strongest terms” continued Israeli air strikes against civilian areas in Beirut, South Lebanon (photo) and the Beqaa Valley. THE Ministry of Foreign Affairs also recommended that Brazilians leave the conflagrated area.
Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah group have been exchanging fire across the border since the start of the current war in Gaza last year, sparked after an attack by Hezbollah’s ally Hamas, but Israel has intensified its military campaign in the last week.
