16 students poisoned by exposure to chemicals

16 estudiantes intoxicados al exponerse a productos químicos

La Vega.-He Ministry of Education of this province is investigating the poisoning of 16 students from the educational center Father Fantino in the community of Barranca, due to exposure to chemicals.

According to reports, six of the affected students were admitted to the pediatric ward of the Luis Manuel Morillo King Hospital, while one received care at a private health center in this district.

The other students were treated at the same Padre Fantino school. The students are in stable condition.

The students of the educational center were intoxicated allegedly by inhaling chemicals derived from a dog bath that was taking place near the school.

The incident has raised concerns in the community and among parents.

Education authorities are conducting an investigation to determine whether chemicals were the cause of the poisoning.
