The 16 people who had been trapped by the flood of the river that furrowed by the Raya sector above the Pueblo Nuevo parish of the Baralt municipality, were rescued in a joint operation of firefighters, civil protection and police.
The rescue was activated on the night of Sunday, September 7, after an alert call received by the commander of the Baral Firefighters, Colonel Viomar Montero.
Among those rescued there were five minors, an older adult and another ten adults who were transferred to the I Luis Razetti hospital and the rural outpatient II of the San Pedro sector to perform a complete medical evaluation.
The mayor of the Baralt municipality, Samuel Contreras, informed that “the rapid response of emergency equipment allowed all people to be safely settled” and clarified that security forces remain in constant surveillance to respond immediately to any similar eventuality that arises.
