AREQUIPA, Peru – Fifteen-year-old Noemí Victoria Blanco Acosta, who was reported missing on September 12 in Matanzas province, has been located and is now with her family.
“Thanks to everyone’s collaboration on social media, I inform you that my daughter has appeared. She is fine,” reported Ángel Salvador Escandell Zamora, the minor’s father, through a publication on Facebook.
“I would like to reiterate my heartfelt thanks to all those who have supported my family in one way or another these days, and I hope that all those who are going through the same situation as we are now experiencing will soon have good news like we just had,” he added.
For its part, the independent observatory of the magazine Alas Tensas closed the Mayde alert which had been carried out in connection with the disappearance of Blanco Acosta.
Noemí Victoria Blanco Acosta disappeared last week in Cárdenas. The family then explained that the teenager was carrying a backpack and could be heading to the city of Matanzas or Havana. They also indicated that she was wearing “clothes that do not belong to her” because all her belongings were at home.
After the appearance of the minor, no further details were released about the circumstances or her whereabouts. However, in a second publicationEscandell Zamora expressed his gratitude for the help during the search.
“Thousands of blessings to all those who helped us in these turbulent days. My daughter appeared and is now with us, but it has all been thanks to the joint effort of all those who dedicated a minute of their valuable time, from the heart, thank you, thank you and thank you. May all the families who go through what we went through soon reach the joy of having what they are looking for by their side,” wrote the father.
Reports of missing persons have become frequent since residents on the Island began to have more access to social networks.
The Cuban State does not implement official mechanisms to make visible the cases of missing persons, including minors and the elderly. Unlike systems such as the Amber alert in the United States, in Cuba It is members of civil society who, through social networks, usually make these disappearances known and promote the search.
To report a missing person, it is suggested that relatives fill out a form with key information that will facilitate the search and put pressure on the authorities. This form should include the following data:
- Full name
- Alias (if applicable)
- Registration number and date of the complaint filed with the PNR (if it has been made)
- Physical description: hair color, eye color, height
- Age
- Identifiable marks: moles, tattoos, scars
- Chronic diseases
- Necessary medication
- Clothes she was wearing when last seen
- Place and date last seen
- Place of residence
- Telephone numbers or other contact information
- Any other information relevant to the search
