Agents of the United States Border Patrol placed 15 Cubans detained in the Florida Keys in federal custody on Tuesday, as shared in their social networks Agent Thomas G. Martin. “They will be processed for deportation proceedings,” he stressed.

The Border Patrol spokesperson explained that the rafters’ arrest was the result of a “maritime smuggling” operation, in which officials from the Customs and Border Protection service and Air and Maritime Operations also participated.

The Cubans arrived in the area located in the extreme south of Florida in a rustic boat with the legend “SOS Cuba”. This is the first arrival of rafters reported in 2022 by the US authorities.
