Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) maintains red alert for the Santiago de los Caballeros and Puerto Plata provinces, while placing nine demarcations yellow and issued green level in three others.
The COE reported that the alert levels issued respond to the downpours that have been registered in the last hours in different provinces, the majority located in the north of the country.
He informed that the yellow provinces are Valverde, Dajabón, Spanish, La Vega, Mirabal sisters, María Trinidad Sánchez, Monte Cristi and Santiago Rodríguez.
On his side, the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) predicted that the downpours will continue in the next 48 hours, due to the presence of the trough and the remnants of a frontal system.
