He commented that, from these investigations, the existence of an organization dedicated to the theft and marketing of hydrocarbons was confirmed, where entrepreneurs and authorities are involved.
Therefore, he mentioned that they made operational deployments in Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Veracruz and Mexico City, where apprehension orders were executed against three entrepreneurs, five active sailors and one in retirement and five former customs officials.
“Those who participated in this fuel smuggling network that has affected the economy in billions of pesos. The detainees are available to the competent authorities and will collaborate fully and transparently so that the investigation progresses with total respect for due process to establish responsibilities,” he said.
He mentioned that for the investigation there was the help of the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIUF) to identify deposits and withdrawals in troops, acquisition of real estate and luxury vehicles and hiring of life policies and insurance premiums for “superior” amounts. He stressed that they were incongruous with the profile of these people.
